SANTIRBAZAR GOVT DEGREE COLLEGE

College at a Glance:-

Government Degree College, Santirbazar was established on 14th June 2012 with the introduction of six departments (Education, Political Science, History, Philosophy, Bengali and English) having the intake capacity of 200 students in each subject (Vide Memo No.F.TU/REG/ACA/GDC.SBZ/27/12 Date 19th July, 2012). In the year 2013, the college has started its first honours course in the subject History with intake capacity of 20 students. In the later years, subject like Political Science, Bengali and Education were included in the list of honours courses and the intake capacity has increased to 30 from the academic session 2015-16. Similarly, subject like Philosophy and Kokborok were included in the pass courses. Now, the total student strength of the college is 541. The college has six Assistant Professors, four Post Graduate Teachers, one Library Assistant, one Physical Instructor (Deputation), Nine Guest Faculties and the head of the college, Principal-in-Charge. There are 11 official staffs in the college to run the administrative work of the college.

The college has one library, one computer laboratory, one smart class rooms, one conference hall, ten class rooms, one boy’s common room, one girl’s common room and one separate student union council building. The college has one beautiful playground for the students. The college is running various courses like the Distance Education Centre under Tripura University. Course like BCC and ECC were provided to students during the academic year 2013-2016.

The college has also a NSS Unit, which has been conducting several programmes within and outside the college from the academic session 2014-15.These programmes includes, special camps, disaster management programme, blood donation camp, Banomohatsav, Swachha Bharat Abhiyan, Yoga programmes, debate competitions and drama etc.

A new separate science building construction is also going on in our college, which funded by the Rastriya Uchhatar ShikshyaAbhiyan (RUSA), Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. It’s a great pleasure for all of us that, the Govt. Degree College, Santirbazar has been chosen as one of the ‘Model college’ in Tripura.
