INFORMATION & CULTURAL AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT (ICAT)

The South District Information & Cultural Affairs office, Belonia was set-up on 27th Feb,2014 with the object of effecting proper communication between the Government and the masses or to act as a bridge between these two sides. Besides being the nodal agency in the field of Information & Cultural Affairs implementing various projects for their development it has been conveying the massage of the Government to the public and taking the public opinion to the Government. Wide measures have been taken towards expansion of information service up to the remotest parts of the district. In addition, development of Culture of different caste and communities.
Presently, District ICA , South Tripura Belonia has three Sub-divisional ICA office ,2(two) BICA office ,15(fifteen) Information Centers and 41 no LRSs.
In Tripura there are 19 ethnic tribal groups and they having different folk cultural tradition and Lokaranjan Sakhas mainly working for development of these folk and traditional culture of the State.
Besides this the office also organized various cultural workshop and cultural festivals like mahamoni festival, pilak festival, Sanghati mela festival,khompoi festival, Baishakhi Mela Jatra festival, Drama festival and lokasanskritik utsab Rabindra jayanti etc around the year.
Moreover, ICA department also organize special programme on health awareness programme, awareness programme (seminar and street drama) on communal harmony departmental schemes etc time to time.
In South Tripura District there are 60 no registered cultural organization they also working for upliftment of our traditional and folk culture.
