District Administration

The South Tripura district administration at the Udaipur Town of Udaipur Sub-division is headed by the District Magistrate and Collector (DM & Collector), and assisted by the Additional District Magistrate and Collector (ADM & Collector).

Located on a hillock besides the Tripura Sundari District Hospital, the U shaped district headquarters comprise of the DM's building, the ADM Building and the Tribal Welfare Building leaving the fourth side as the entrance to the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Udaipur.

The district administration comprises of various administrative section looked after by respective Officer-In-Charges, who are reporting to the DM & Collector. The Senior Deputy Magistrate, Drawing and Disbursing Officer of the district administration are responsible for day-to-day activities and general office administration.

The Treasury Officer reports to the District Collector (DM & Collector) regarding the functioning of the District Treasury and the 4 Sub-Treasuries in the district. The various administrative sections in the district headquarters are Revenue, Development, Establishment, General, Accounts, Judicial, Confidential and Nazarath Section

The district administration maintains a well-furnished Circuit House with AC as well as Non-AC rooms, with round the clock essential amenities. Since DM & Collector is the Sebait of the Tripura Sundari Temple, the district administration maintains a well-guarded Security Chest to preserve all valuables and ornaments from the Temple. The same premises also houses district treasury double lock, which is also used to keep Ballot papers during election process and Examination papers during the Class X & XII State Board Examination.

Development works in the district is coordinated by Development section in addition to the District Rural Development Agency, headed by the Project Director. The DM & Collector monitors the multifaceted activities in the district over a monthly meeting known as District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC), which is attended by the district level officers of all major departments.

In addition to the DLCC, the following are also monitored once a month

  1. Revenue matters with the Sub-Divisional Magistrates.
  2. Development matters with Block Development Officers.
  3. Meeting of Empowered Committee with the Security Forces operating in the district.
  4. Fencing in International Border with BSF, GREF, PWD, CPWD and respective Sub-Divisional Magistrates.
  5. District Level Monitoring Committee of the DRDA.

Meeting of the Informal Group comprising of representatives of PWD, Power and Health department apart form the Security Agencies is also organized at regular interval.

The Continuing Education Campaign and the Total Sanitation Campaign is also coordinated in the district from the district headquarters. The ADM & Collector, who is also the Land Acquisition Collector, operates from the district headquarter.

The offices operating from the district headquarter are District Panchayat Office, District Planning office and District Labour Office.
